As believers, our faith is not just between “me and the Lord,” nor should it only be shared with our sisters and brothers in Christ.  The Kingdom of God is not from this world (it’s from somewhere else), but it is certainly FOR this world. The Gospel that Jesus proclaimed and we confess is intended to “bring good news to the poor.”

What could be better news than the end of poverty? Old Testament prophets taught us that the measure of a nation’s righteousness and integrity is how it treats the most vulnerable. Jesus told us that we, as individuals and as nations, will be judged by how we treat “the least of these” (Matt 25).

John Wesley, our father in the faith, understood the challenge of living out a love-filled, transformational faith in a difficult world and gave us three rules, “The General Rules,” to guide us on our path to holiness and effective mission.

He said, first, "Do No Harm."  Second, "Do Good." Third, “Stay in Love with God.”
